Hi, I’m Jody.
A bit about me. Although I was born in New Mexico and have a deep love for the Spanish language, street tacos and sopapillas, I lived there for only the first few months of my life, and was essentially raised here in Whatcom County. I have kind loving parents and three brothers who are honestly the most delightful, honest, hilarious men I know. I do not exaggerate when I say I would not be in the current state of stability and quasi-sanity that I am today without their ridiculous support.
Also, I swear, I just do. Sorry, Mom. I read somewhere it’s good for you.
I have three amazing children who have indelibly altered my life (not to mention my body) forever. I am honored to have the chance to witness their growth from adorable, albeit exhausting, tiny humans to much taller, and equally adorable humans, each pressing in to make this world a better place in their own unique ways.
29 years ago, I graduated from Seattle Pacific University with my Bachelor's in Nursing. I went back 3 years later and got my Master's in Science and certification as a family Nurse Practitioner. I have worked in multiple settings: Gastroenterology originally, then Family Practice, then my own House Calls practice, and, for the last almost 7 years, back in GI. I absolutely LOVE this job. It has been such a privilege to sit with so many humans and hear their stories. Particularly in GI, I see so many folks who have suffered trauma in their lives now experiencing perplexing stomach pain or other digestive issues. Turns out, all that pain has goes somewhere. It’s true that The Body Keeps the Score. (Hyperlink to purchase at Village Books)
